Silver City Glass Co. Sterling Silver Overlay Ruffle Edge Bowl, Flanders/Poppies Pattern This bowl is the perfect size to serve candies and treats and it's also a beautiful display piece! A lovely vintage glass bowl with a ruffled rim that's trimmed with a line of sterling silver overlay and a sterling silver overlay design of poppy flowers, graceful stems, and leaves. It measures about 7 1/2" in diameter.
The dish appears to be made of very thin, delicate, quality glass and it is also in excellent condition. The glass is crystal clear and it has no chips or cracks.
The sterling silver overlay was produced by Silver City Glass Company. They created several different sterling silver overlay patterns and applied them to glassware manufactured by various glass companies. (The specific glass maker of this bowl is unknown to me.) This floral design is Silver City's "Flanders" pattern which was considered to be their most popular. This is a very elegant vintage bowl in excellent condition that will make a great gift for someone special or a pefect addition to your own collection!
