Rarer Style of Band-Aid Tins (1948/49) Plain & Tryo-thri-cin Pad, 36 count
Let’s start with the fact that these tins HAVE NOT been cleaned by us, they are as we found them.  We know that collectors have varying preferences on cleaning this, but don’t clean that, so we leave that choice up to you.
Both tins, from our research, appear to be on the rarer side of Band-Aid tins available from this time period.  These are both
36 count assorted
bandages tins and we found very few of these compared to the 47 count assorted bandage tins of this era.  We’re not sure why that is but one obvious answer is that more 47 count tins were produced, to begin with.  Or perhaps the price difference between the 47 and 37 counts favored the higher count tin for a penny or two more.
This style of Band-Aid tin dates to circa 1940s to early 50s.  These particular tins were found dated specifically to
1948/49
.  However, we do not know what it is about them that allowed such a precise date to be placed on them.  Perhaps the double snap closure, or the way the tin is rolled, heck maybe the corner radius was slightly different.
What is uniqued about
these two tins is that they do not have the red “
+
” medical symbol graphic on them.  That symbol appears to be on all previous tin designs and then stops appearing abruptly until the 85th-anniversary tin that was produced in 2005.
Please review the listing pictures for their condition.  Those pictures are not from the internet, we take our own.  And those are the tins you will receive.  Nope, they are not “pristine”, but they are in wonderful condition and would find a home in the most serious of collections.
