Description
This listing is for a gorgeous console bowl produced by the Fenton Art Glass Co. between 1932 and 1939. This is Fenton's No. 950 console bowl in Rose (pink) with the Ming satin etching. The console bowl measures 11 1/2" long, 10 1/4" wide, and 4" tall at flip corner and is in very good condition. There are two areas, one at each end of the bowl, in which the acid etching did not completely take as sometimes happened; however, as it is such a busy and random etch it is not obvious. There are one or two very small bubbles in the glass which are typical and part of the manufacturing process (see Note at end of description). Finally, there is a flake on the bottom of the foot (see last photo), but due to its location on the bottom it does not show when displayed. While there are small imperfections on the bowl it displays beautifully and the price has been adjusted down to reflect these minor imperfections. I tend to be over-critical in describing flaws but feel it is better to be upfront about it, even though most people would never notice flaws this small. The console bowl is heavy, weighing just under 3 pounds.Note: Elegant and Depression glass commonly contain bubbles, straw marks, inclusions, etc. in the glass, but these are not defects but part of the glass-making process. I try to include glass anomalies in the description when present.
