Description
Small cardboard box form The Scott's Opticians of 4, The Traverse, Bury St. Edmunds in Suffolk, England. 6-1/4" by 3-1/8" by 1-1/8", brown heavy chipboard (paperboard) with reinforced corners. Presumed 1920's or 30's vintage, light outer wear but sound, shows some light scuffing and writing on the cover, interior clean. Writing states "English", as this contained an assortment of coinage of Great Britain when it came across my counter. I could not stand to toss it away at the time (read more below). As this has no specific value that can be assigned, priced based upon the "cool factor" as a vintage advertising collectible. You can suggest an alternate value if you wish.
So what’s the deal here with a coin dealer selling old tins (or whatever)?
Well after many years running a coin shop, you wind up getting small accumulations & collections housed in just about anything, from Alka Seltzer bottles, to Crown Royal bags.
Quite a while back, I started to hang on to any unusual old tin or container that wandered in, for my “museum”.
After 30 years I find I have to move and need to cull the herd in order to reduce the pain of packing and moving all the “stuff”.
So I offer some of the more unusual items here to allow someone else to add these to their hoard hopefully!
Please Note: We require payment within four days of purchase, unless you contact us for other arrangements in advance of purchase. . Buy or Bid with confidence: we have a heritage to 1937, and loads of good eBay Feedback, where I have been selling since 1997.
