CARDUI FOR WOMEN Wood Shipping Box
The Chattanooga Medicine Company was founded on Feb. 21, 1889, and started operations in an unpretentious two-story brick building on a muddy, unpaved Market Street in Chattanooga.
I purchased some old glassware at a recent Middle Tennessee rural estate sale and it came packed in this box. I noticed the printing on the ends and sides of the crate and looked it up.  From what I found, it dates from around 1889 (see printed info below).  It has some issues, but is still very sturdy and the writing is easy to read.  Check all photos (I've included photos of all sides) as they describe it better than I can and feel free to email any questions, more photos, etc. as I'm selling as found, as is.
Just a few notes:
Measures 11" X 9" X 9 1/2" deep and wood is 1/2" in thickness
Dovetailed corners
Bottom is nailed in place
I don't know much about wood, but think it's pine?
All appears to be original
In 1880 Dr. R.I. McElree’s Wine of Cardui hit the pharmaceutical market as a menstrual relief product for women. He sold his product to the chatanooga Medicine Company and made an agreement with the purchasers of the alcohol-laced product that if they were not satisfied with its promised result that they would get their money back.  Allegedly 6,500 ladies reported being cured of the “vapors” or “fallen womb syndrome” and the company immediately received an initial shipment of 7,000 bottles.
